General Questions

1. What is AffPlanet?

   
   AffPlanet is world's first free professional affiliate tracking and management software.
   It allows you to create and manage your own affiliate program and attract, motivate, and reward affiliates who grow your business.

2. I'm affiliate, should I sign up?

   
   No. Affiliate software is for merchants. You as an affiliate should find some affiliate program available, and join this program as an affiliate.
   You can find affiliate programs in various directories, affiliate forums, or by visiting merchant's website or web shop.
   AffPlanet is a provider of affiliate software for merchants, we don't handle recruitment of affiliates.

3. Is AffPlanet really for free?

   
   Yes, there is also free plan in AffPlanet. Using this plan you nor your affiliates pay anything to us. There are no hidden one-time or monthly costs.
   
   Free plan provides affiliate program with all basic functionality. It's user interface and configurability is limited when compared to paid plans.

4. What are the limitations of free version?

   
   You can compare free and paid versions features here.
   Free version has lower traffic limit (but sufficient for small business), its' affiliate and admin panels are very simple and it does not have the configurability of paid versions.
   Also reporting options of free version are limited.
   Paid version offers also possibility of branding the system, use your own domain and your own login page for affiliates.

5. Is AffPlanet an Affiliate Network?

   
   No, AffPlanet Affiliate System is your own private affiliate management software.
   We do not handle partner relationship, we don't process your sales (except tracking them) and we do not charge you any percentage of your sales.
   You recruit your affiliates on your own and you also "own" them.

6. Should I use free or paid version?

   
   It depends on if simple solution (Free) is good for you or you want to start with professional solution.
   Free version is simple and supports only per sale comissions. It's configuration and branding options are limited. You can compare free and paid versions features here.

Setup and Integration

1. Can you setup and integrate the software for me?

   
   Yes, if you choose Manual Integration. Note that this service is paid.
   You can do it also by yourself, AffPlanet contains powerful Integration Wizard which will lead you through the integration in simple steps.
   We will also integrate the system with your web site and shopping cart/payment gateway.

2. Is my shopping cart supported?

   
   AffPlanet works with virtually 100% shopping carts and payment gateways.
   From the most known shopping carts it works with the following:
   • X-Cart
   • PayPal
   • WorldPay
   • StormPay
   • 2Checkout
   • osCommerce
   • snscart.com
   If your cart is not in the list, it doesn't mean it cannot be integrated. As said above, almost every shopping cart can be integrated. If you want to be sure your cart is supported contact us.

3. What I have to do after signup?

   
   Your account will be created right after signup. You can immediately log in check your system.
   There is a Getting Started section which helps you with the most comon steps you should do to configure and start your affiliate program.

4. Can the software be hosted on my domain?

   
   No, AffPlanet is hosted solution and runs on our servers. This enables us to make regular updates and to monitor the system.

5. Can I change the currency from US dollars to my national currency?

   
   Yes, it's very simple. You can change it in Settings (paid accounts only).

6. Can the affiliate software be translated to another language?

   
   Yes, but for the time being we support only english. If you are interested in providing the translation in exchange for soem reward from us, let us know.

Tracking

1. What type of tracking technology does AffPlanet use? How does it work?

   
   AffPlanet combines few methods to ensure the maximum reliability of the tracking. The primary method is "cookie" based tracking system. Cookies are small pieces of text data that are saved into visitor's computer. When visitor clicks on a banner or link, the small information containing affiliate and banner is saved into cookie. Later, when customer makes a purchase, the cookie is checked and if it contains the affiliate (who referred the customer), system generates appropriate commission for this affiliate.
   Another method that is used if cookies fail is tracking by IP address of visitor.
   AffPlanet uses world's unique method of cookie tracking, combining 1st and 3rd party cookies, which increases the reliability of tracking to the maximum possible level.
   As far as we know, we are the only in the world offering this.

2. What kinds of reports will the software show me?

   
   AffPlanet contains rich set of reports. You will see list of all transactions (clicks, sales, leads, etc.) together with referring pages. There are also summary and trends reports showng you your traffic, the best and worst performing affiliates, and many more.
   Free version contains only limited reporting options.

3. Will banner/link work also in emails?

   
   Yes, there should be no difference to normal web banner. When the user clicks on a banner or link on the email and new browser window is opened, his click is normally registered and the cookie is saved on his computer.

4. Can I track offline sales?

   
   Yes. There is functionality to manually create or import any transaction you need (click, sale, lead).

Managing Your Affiliates

1. Will I share my affiliates with other clients?

   
   No, your affiliates belong only to you. Your affiliate program is strictly separated from programs of our another clients.

2. Can I pay one Affiliate more than another?

   
   Yes, this is available in Pro version. You can set up special commissions for different affiliates.
   You can even set up performance rewards and give higher commissions to your best affiliates automatically.

3. Can I approve Affiliates before they start earning commissions?

   
   Yes, you can turn on manual screening (only paid version). Then the affiliate is in 'pending' state until you approve him.

4. Where will my Affiliates sign up? Can the page be at my site?

   
   AffPlanet offers customizable signup page. You can change the look of the page, however, the page must remain on our own server.
   If yu don't want to let your affiliates know you are running system based on AffPlanet, you can use your own domain branding.

5. Can Affiliates be removed from the program?

   
   Yes, you can decline or delete affiliate anytime. You have full control over your affiliates.

Commissions and Payouts

1. Which commission types are supported?

   
   It depends on your account plan.
   Free account has only per sale commission support.
   Lite and Pro accounts support all types of commissions: CPM (cost per thousand impressions) - upon approval, per referral, per click, per sale, per lead (per action) commissions. It also supports recurring and multi tier commissions up to 10 tiers deep.
   Your per sale and per lead commissions could be fixed amount or percentage of sale.
   You can also combine multiple types of commissions in one campaign.

2. Can I set different commissions per products?

   
   Yes, in Pro account plan it is possible. You can have multiple campaigns (for different products) and each of them can have separate commission settings.

3. How do I pay my affiliates?

   
   If you use Free account, you can generate an invoice and you are responsible for paying the affiliates.
   Paid accounts offer flexible payout options. After signup we define the payout option according to your requests. The system does not pay anything automatically. It can create export file or payment buttons instead, which will allow you to send the money to your affiliates.
   For example, if you choose payout by PayPal, AffPlanet will generate the export file in PayPal MassPay format which you then can use to send money from your PayPal account.
   It is also possible to pay manually using PayPal buttons.

4. Do I control when my affiliates should be paid?

   
   Yes, this is totally under your control. Affiliate software will tell you how much money affiliates earned during selected period, if the amount is above the minimum payout, and you can generate payment export file and pay your affiliates.

   Yes, your data are stored in separate database not accessible by anyone else.
   Only you have access to your own data.

2. Is your site secure?

   
   Yes, we take your privacy and security very seriously. We use Secure Socket Layer encryption everytime you fill some form.

3. Can I use it for Adult websites?

   
   Yes, Adult websites are welcomed, as long as they provide 100% legal content (worldwide).

4. Can I customize the look of control panel?

   
   The look of affiliate control panel is customizable to some level.
